DWP awards £4.1 million to Anite mobile working project
- Efficiency-driven initiative to transform local authority Benefits
departments
- Project estimated to generate £19 million of direct cost savings over five
years
Wokingham, Berkshire March 21, 2006 - Sequena, the UK based business transformation company announced today their LASER process initiative has played a significant part in a major funding award from the Department of Work and Pensions to the Anite company.
Sequena provide business process re-engineering software and services to Anite, specialist provider of IT solutions to the public sector, which is at the heart of Anite's BPI (Business Process Improvement) methodology.
Anite has been awarded £3million from the Department of Work and Pensions' (DWP) Performance Standards Fund (PSF) for the next phase of its Pericles Mobile Working Project adding to the £1.1million already received. The efficiency-driven initiative will transform the work of local authority Benefits departments by enabling visiting officers to access information remotely via mobile devices.
Anite's BPI (Business Process Improvement) methodology utilising Sequena's LASER programme and process modelling tool, Engage! Analyzer, identified that the initiative will generate £19 million of direct cost savings over five years and benefit the DWP, authorities and citizens through the following:
- Reduced fraud and overpayments as a result of improved data accuracy,
significantly reducing the margin for error in calculating benefit
entitlement
- Faster data collection, verification and processing times, allowing quicker
payments to claimants
- More time for officers to spend with claimants or to conduct additional
visits, through the elimination of time consuming tasks such as the need for
paper case notes, case preparation and document copying
- Greater flexibility for claimants in terms of location of data collection
- Improved accessibility for the claimant to council services
"Sequena's mission is to provide public sector organisations with rapid implementation of renewed business processes to achieve improved efficiencies resulting in better delivery of services. LASER is designed for just that." says William Fell, Managing Director of Sequena. "We are very pleased to have played a major role for Anite to secure the funding. Our process work has shown that the Anite mobile working solution has a clear business case for transforming local authority service delivery".
