Findings were that the fastest way to place an order was to bypass the IT system and let Finance sort it out! Also, as in many key processes in organisations, there was a lack of ownership in the process. Policy/procedure and training not consistently enforced so multiple operating procedures resulted.

A rodamap of quick wins and fundamental changes were put in place covering policy, process and training including significant focus on procurement. The resulting net cash-releasing savings were in excess of £8,000 per month.
